That doesn't look like any termites or wood ant I've ever seen. In fact, that looks scary. I'd seal up that hole in the sheetrock before I have to read about you in the paper. Be careful...

I agree with Howdy, they look to big to be termites. They are interesting little things though, but like Howdy said, if you dont know what they are, stay away. I would consult and exterminator, show him those pics if the bugs have already been disposed of. He will know what they are as well as how to get rid of them and keep them away. Good Luck.

The first picture looks like what we used to call "ladybugs" the second squished bugs. There is another name for them, which escapes me, they are more of a pain then destructive and stink, and hide in every little crevise.

Un-identifiable Funky-looking Objects! UFO's. I'm surrounded by critters, and go out of my way to check out neat little bugs but can't make those out.
Have you ever seen big water-bugs or cockroaches in the area?

I just researched slugs, slug eggs, and larvae. The slugs usually lay their eggs in spring to early summer. They like to lay them where it will stay moist and cool. I doubt it is your basic garden slug egg.

Slugs.
You really ought to tear exisiting structure out enough to treat for them and replace all damaged materials. Probably also have a dampness problem that will only get worse if not stopped.
