Defective Coffee Can?
Ok, I think I may have my hard starting/fuel leakdown problem fixed. I replaced all 8 injectors, and seems to be starting every time so far, bad news is a check engine light appeared shortly thereafter. I ran the codes and got a laundry list of emissions related stuff, all vacuum related, I found I left the electrical plug off of the AIRS solonoid (my bad), reconnected it, now I get one persistant code after driving 20 mins or so 553- EGR valve not opening, I pulled the line from the valve, no vacuum, I put a hand vacuum pump on the valve, and got it to open, and the data scan shows the pintle position sensor is working just fine, EGR solonoid is hooked up, seems to be missing a vacuum supply to it. I found the supply line, which is a black plastic vacuum tube, and it seems to go to the vacuum storage device (coffee can), and the vacuum storage device goes right to the manifold through a red plastic tube, do I have this right?? So I get no vacuum coming out of the vacuum storage tank, but if I check the red tube I get good vacuum off the manifold, and the vacuum storage tank does not seem to be leaking. Does the tank have check valves in it?? Becuase I put a gauge on the output (black) side of the can and could not read any vacuum, but when I tried to pull vacuum on that port, I was able to pull and hold vacuum well. Ok thats the first issue, second issue is totally seperate. When taking the upper intake manifold off, I noticed something dangling loose around the back of it. There is a hose coming off the upper manifold which is large diameter compared to the others, which wraps around the back of the manifold and goes to some kind of check valve with a rubber plug on one end (PCV valve?), the valve is connected to the hose, but it looks like it's supposed to plug into something with the rubber end, where does it go??? Its just hanging there loose behind the manifold..
