Edge or Diablo

I would like all of your opinions. I have a 02 F250 SD Auto.

I am going to redo my exhaust with 4" or 5" (4" down pipe) no muffler and the replace my intake probably with the Tymar system.

My question is, what do you all prefer? The Edge Juice w/Attitude controller or the Diablo Perditor tuner?

I like the idea of adjusting on the go and having the digital gauges (I wouldn't have to spend the extra $$ on gauges) of the Edge, but I can't pull codes with it or see the other peramitors that the Diablo offers.

Anyway I would appreciate any help.

I just bought the Diablo. Not being able to read codes is a no-go for me.

i just bought the edge juice with attitude monitor for my 2002 PSD. check my gallery, i have pics of the gauges and stuff in there. i got mine off ebay for $569 new, really great deal. installation was a breeze, except for tapping the hole. i am an amateur at cutting threads, and i did not want to mess it up, i would be out of a manifold. plus this was 10:30 at night, and i had no one to help me. took me about an hour for that. it was actually alot easier than i planned it. it makes awesome power. however, it does nothing for the transmission, other than put more stress on it. therefore i am getting the Sonnax valve/Tricumulator springs for it here in the near future. the adjustability is awesome, i run it on setting 4 most of the time/ setting 5 (high smoke) on low-boost setting. my lie-o-meter reads 19.9-21 mpg. i was at 15.7 before the chip. albeit i have a big foot but i cant use it because i need a parent with me in moderately heavy acceleration (1/2 pedal) the SES light comes on. i check the EGT and it is less than 950, check the boost, it reads 11 or less. that puzzles me. if you have any more questions about the edge, i have it first hand and can take more pics if you want. i also have a 4'' exhaust and "intake"

(yay! 500th post!)

Skip the tuners and get a custom tuned Jody Tipton custom tuned 4 or 6 position chip.

Get the Auto Enginuity software for pulling, reading and erasing codes. Includes data logging, contribution and buzz tests, etc.

I second that for REAL power, only I have Tony Wildman tunes on a 6 pos. I knowTony's burns are off the hook. Can't say anything about Jody. Only heard of goods things about him though.

Thanks for the replies. I don't tow very often so I don't want to get real crazy with this, just something a little more. I don't want to be breaking things all the time. I know me if I have too much power I'll use it, and I'll break it.

Another quick question for strokin_it. How do you like that intake set up? Does the warmer air from under the hood make a noticable difference in the EGT's?

i love the intake, it was really cheap and it does it's job well! it makes an awesome whooshing sound when the pedal is let up off of, or under hard acceleration. the hot underhood air doesnt really matter, the turbo heats the hell out of the air anyway when it compresses it.

by the way, the SES light is the "check engine light" (service engine soon), located on the left section of the cluster and is yellow.

dvfd12,

That's one of the coolest features of the Edge Juice and Attitude, you can get it now and then add the Predator or the Evolution or any chip etc at a later date for code reading and more HP. You set the "other" product on whatever HP setting you want and then use the power selection on the Attiude to control it as well as the Juice.

Cool, thank you for the replies. I think I'm gonna go with the Edge for now.

Oh hey, strokin_it. If you figure the check engine light thing out let me know.

Thanks again.

i believe it is the "overboost" warning. when the MAP sensor reads more than 22 psi or so, it comes on. but my gauge was only reading 11.7 psi or something. i would like to know if there is anyway to use the AIH plug/block off with boost fitting, and have the true pressure display on my Attitude. where does the edge system actually read the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) at? at the "MAP" sensor? i just know that when it comes on, i have exceeded stock parameters
mark @ DPPI, i am also thinking about getting the evolution eventually, so i can program the tranny seperate, if Mr.Sonnax doesnt cure my transmission illness. i like the adjustability of the transmission, plus pulling codes is awesome. and the power, thats always a bonus, to wax my friends with their "hot" ricburners.

There are other reasons the SES light will come on also, not just over-boost. If it comes on at 11.7 psi, I would try to pull the code and see what was going on. There is a company that makes an AIH plug with a nipple or tap; I can't remember which, for a boost gauge tap. That sounds like what you are looking for.

yeah, im thinking of the evolution to pull the code- i have no access to that as of now. yes, i was referring to BlackCloudDiesel's AIH plug. i just wanted to know if that location would be compatible with the edge. i have heard that the MAP sensor is mostly un-accurate. i hope its not off by 10 PSI when i get my sonnax/springs, i am going to get the AIH delete plug if the other method doesnt work. a 20% restriction.

Yeah, I am with you on that. The 11.7 psi seems mighty low. Are you pulling more boost than that, or is that just where the SES light is coming on at? Since I put the over-boost eliminator on, I can hit 30 psi and not see the SES light. I have read other debates on the AIH tap for the boost gauge. Seems to me that would be the most accurate place to get the correct reading. That was the general consensus also.

I have the Edge/Attitude and the Evolution programmer. Holy ***** I love it.
I can monitor the tranny and oil temps now - still gonna get the analogs though. I can also read the OBDII codes and clear them. This is about as nasty as I want the truck to be. I concur with those suggesting custom burns. Designed for your set up, to use the power the best way.
