Lightbulb '05 coil overs on a 78 f-250???

anybody ever seen or done a coilover swap on a early model f-250 (78 model) im either curious or nuts. i have been having thoughts about a swap eversince the new superdutyies came out and all the aftermarket lifts for them. my mind has been running about how to fit one to my truck. seems like it might work out pretty good with a little bit of welding and cutting. heavy duty is heavy duty right???????

hey...that'd be pretty sweet, but prolly could find a better coil over than a stock 05 one....

Thats what I was thinking. But all in all, a pretty simple conversion with a bit of fab. Plenty of guys ditch their leaves in favor of coilovers.

i was thinking about one of the aftermatket systems not the stock setup. it is a good design just to damn heavy and bulky. maybe superlift or fabtech they seem to have a stout system.

I was under the opinion that F150 had coilovers, and not F250/350 (they had radius arm/coils)??

they so stock but some of the aftermarket companies are using coilovers and a fourlink system in the fromt like skyjacker. it looks pretty stout and if it can handle a superduty im sure it can handle a 78 f-250. im seriously thinking about doing this. ill just have a little fabrication to do. wish me luck.

just to get our terminology straight here a coilover is a combination of a race shock and coil in one unit. it uses a standard racing spring mounted on a threaded spring seat for ride height adjustment, and the shock resides inside the spring. springs are available in any rate and any length thus allowing a complete customization of the suspension.

as far as i know there are no stock ford trucks that come with the coilover option... i'm prolly wrong but i have never heard nor seen it. i think they are all just coil/radius arm setups

yes your right about the coil springs and radius arms on the superduties in stock trim but i am talking about the aftermarket lifts. i.e. not stock. fabtech sells a kit that includes a coilover upgrade kit in its lift kits for the new sd's you can check on their website www.fabtech.com. i do not want the stock suspension system on the 05's while it is good it is to low lol. im just wondering if anyone has heard of sombody thinking about doing a coilover setup on a late 70's f-250/350 i have heard about them on the f-150s but im not interested in that. usually they just use the kits for broncos which are not as heavy duty as i would like. if i just wanted coils i would go with a bronco lift kit that would be easy!
