I have heard about it and understad there is a TSB out for it. Dont know what it sounds like. I noticed on mine that it has begun to develop a low pitched humming noise at about 55 mph, doesnt matter whether there is a load on it or not. Only way i can describe it is that it sounds like a rice rocket with a fart can cruising down the road. Just a low pitched piercing type sound that you can hear and feel.
However, the 2005's already have the updated bracket. Maybe just something i never noticed before.
Yup the 05's have the drone . Sounds like a low pitch humming noise at about 1500 to 1800 rpm. I can feel the vibes from it at times too. Doesn't bother me to much since I'm not at that rpm for very long. Some have gotten rid of it by changing exhaust but some don't. Mine started at about 1k miles
ok, so its true that they already have the updated pedestal, and the only POSSIBLE fix is to change the exhaust? Im not willing to do that. I can never actually feel it. Hopefully since it started, it will eventually go away again. Seems it just has to get out of sync a little.
Yes the 05's have the updated pedestal. You can try undoing all the clamps and hangers then drive it around. Then tighten everything back up and see if that helps.
nah...that will likely make it worse if i do that ....
Ill leave it alone. Im not even sure thats what it is, or if its something i just now noticed since the rest of the engine sounds are no longer new to me.
thats what im planning on doing. Maybe Ford will come up with a new fix. As far as i know, it didnt do it when it was new. Why did it start all of a sudden?
Seems to be that the exhaust moves alittle and has to do the the harmonics of the diesel. Thats why it goes away for some when they change the exhaust.I have even seen where they sell a flex down pipe from the turbo but don't know if thats a good fix or not.I refuse to pay more money for a new exhaust for something that Ford should fix.
