Axle size
#'s on the front axle are D9TA-AVA
Rear axle #'s are D8TA-TB
thanks in advance
I'm not sure if you mean the ratio or the size of the axle shaft.
If it is 28 spline it will have a taper down before the splines.
If it is a 31 spline there won't be a taper at the splines.
Ratio & Differential make-up.
You need the code off the rating plate (on the door) or the numbers off the Buck tag attached to the differential.
Get those codes and either post them here or visit my web site.

I was trying to figure out if I had a dana 44 or dana 60..I was told that there are numbers on the casting between the webbing where the tubes come out of the diff., but I can't find them. I think the front is a 44 and the back is a 60, but not sure. I just assumed that I could decode the numbers from the tags found on the pumpkin... I'll keep looking for more numbers
Once you confirm that you have a dana 60, remove those eight bolts from either side of the axle and pull that shaft. A screwdriver might help to break the seal of the gasket. Gear oil will come out so either jack up that side of the truck a little bit or get read to catch it. Count the splines on the shaft. The more the better! This will tell you a little more about your axle. When you put it back in use a bit of RTV silicon to seal it (if you have some. if not, don't worry about it, it will probably seal fine).
