rusted oil pan

My oil pan has some really heavy rust. I wish it would just rust through so I could have it replaced before the engine warrnanty expires. Im affraid if I bring it in now they will just give it a light sanding and paint it. Sorry thats just not good enough. Anybody else have this problem?

If it rusts through the engine warranty will have to cover it.

I also have the same problem. I am hopine for it to rust out within 1 year or 30000 miles. I am pretty sure it is covered going by the warranty book.

I heard that there is a TSB about that at Ford. Something about a special paint that they can apply to the pan. Don't quote me on it, though, as I am unsure. You might be able to get that done for free before the warrenty expires.

Your engine warranty probably has a $500 deductable. I would just get some POR15 and put that on there over the rust spots. It will never rust there again.

I'm interested in replacing mine also. Has anyone replaced one by themselves? How difficult was it?

My 2001 has the same problem, Ford here said that they would cover it under the 5 yr/ 100k diesel warranty, but, not until it actually leaks! Now, get this, they told me the pan is $150 or so and the labor is like 13 hours, they said they have to remove the engine! Total bill would be a grand!!!
