My 78 idles a little rough, and sounds kind of taxed when I lay into the throttle. There are no obvious vacuum leaks. I still need to finish compression checking, but cyl 4-5-6 is 150-120-150.
My plugs also are uniformly dark. About 30k miles on the plugs, wires, cap, carb, air filter, fuel filter, egr valve.
Actually, do I even need the egr valve? It rattles a lot for some reason. There are a few vacuum hoses I could get rid of.
on my 85 had the same prob and i had to replace the int/exh gasket and i ended up plugging and removing the egr tube /plugged the egr valve / plugged the air tube in the head /took off the air pump and plugged vac lines i no longer need and the truck runs like its new
