Blinking shifter light
Hello, I'm brand new to this forum and with my brand new (to me) truck, I have a question. It's a 97 PSD Auto, and the shift colum light will bllink on occasion, really only happens when I have it on cruise control, but won't stop until I shut her down and start her up.
I just got the truck and the owners manual wasn't in it. Went to the ford site, but seeing how I only have my 20 day plate they wouldn't let me access the owners manuals.

Welcome to the forum Rich and congrats on the new truck! A little more info will help us solve your problem. When the OD light flashes does the transmission shift any different? Does the speedo work correctly? How about the cruise control? You should try and get your hands on an OBD2 scanner and see if there are any codes in the computer.

She shifts fine when flashing. The speedo works correctly when flashing. And the cruise control works fine...Just a flashing light.
I'll check the circuit/sensor this weekend and change them out if it's not a problem doing.
What a great site to have access to, very helpful, I'm sure I'll be asking more questions.

when the light flashes it means there is a trans code/problem.. ussually it stpos o/d from working at all until the problem is corrected.
need to get it to a shop w/ a scanner.
