Since the power returned, I wouldn't bother with replacing fuses but check to make sure they are all seated right. Then pull the radio and check to make sure the harness isn't loose or anything. Could be the previous owner had an aftermarket system in and just put back the factory unit before he sold it or traded it in, but didn't plug it in all the way. If all that checks out, then look at the pins in the harness to make sure nothing is loose or broken. Other than that, you could be looking at tracing wires around one by one. If it gets to that, you may be better off just getting a good aftermarket unit and wiring it yourself for the power, but still using the factory wiring for the speakers.
can you still see the display or is it out all together? if it is dim lite. you may want to find the dimmer wire to the radio. i can cut. the only problem with cutting it is that it will not dim.
Actually i think i found the problem. It is my temper!! When the radio shut off i was listening to a football game on ESPN radio and got a little mad and punched the face of the radio. If you shine a bright flashlight into the face of the display you can clearly see that i broke the L.E.D. screen inside. Its all cracked. So now i have to fork out for a new radio, or hopefully a used one on ebay. But thanks everyone for your responses. I still don't know why the radio shut off.
Alot of the newer electronics are designed to shut down temporarily if a short happens. Then they will restart later if short is gone. Guess you clobbered that one into submission! Take a look at www.crutchfield.com
good stuff.
