First Speeding Ticket

So I got my first speeding ticket the other day. 48 in a 35. Cop nabbed me fair and square. At least mom and dad weren't too mad.

As my dad put it" I speed all the time, I just never got caught."

I guess he can't really holler at me if he does the same thing.

Oh well, I learned my lesson.

That sucks man, I dont even remember my first speeding ticket, but I remember my first ticket, I was racing a guy on main street and went into the other far right lane to pass, cops got me and gave me a ticket, luckily when I went to court, the judge let me off because the cop didnt radar how fast I was going, so I could have just been passing normally, I got very lucky!

haha preppypyro, VERY nice. I have had my license for just shy of six months (still waiting for those restrictions to come off at 6 months, we all know I have never broken them *innocent look*), permit for almost a year. Still waiting on that first ticket. I got really close though, about two months ago, raced from a McDonalds in an adjacent town back to my house against one of my friends. 2000 Silverado with the 5.7 against a Chevy Lumina with whatever engine it has it it, all I know is it was a four banger. Not even close to fair. We did 95 through a 45 for quite some time, I was ahead and saw a cop, hit the brakes, she goes flying by me and in front of the cop, he followed her for a good five miles, but never pulled her over.
I don't condone racing and haven't done it since then on any public road!

Speeding is stupid, street racing is dumber. Constanly there are cars on my road doing double the speed limit, kids play on this road, I've almost been hit more than once by *** holes that refuse to do the speed limit. It makes me want to throw gravel into the windshield of their mercedes, hummer or cadillac.

I agree with you 100% now TK70. I won't lie I still cruise about 5 over the speed limit (it's a Texas thing) and even more on safe roads when NO other traffic is present. And I don't mind flying out of an intersection to shut a ricer up, but I'll usually back off near the speed limit, whether he does or not.
In last Sunday's paper, there was an article about street racing around here, about all the High School kids with cars with mods and stuff, big mufflers and "racing" equipment. There was an adjacent article about a ricer who some guy peppered with buckshot when he was speeding. I opened the paper this morning and read several letters to the editor supporting the guy who peppered the ricer, and I agree. I woulda done the same thing.

got hit with my first one last year about this time, got a 57 in a 35, cop only wrote it 55 in a 35 was a bs ticket, hit me in a speed trap, drops 55-45-35 going downhill it drops to 45 at the top of the hill, 35 at the bottom, took a Prayer for Judgement, so I can't screw up for 3 years, 1 down, 2 to go, lol, I still speed, but not near that, the most I'll do is 10 over, and thats if there are others around me and I'm still getting passed, but typically I run 5 over.

If you can fight it, or take traffic school etc as an alternative- do it. Remember- the easiest ticket to beat is your first one- it's downhill from there.

You get used to it.... I just got pulled over tonight for 45 in a 35, but I legitmately did not know the speed limit, and he let me off with a verbal warning. He was a really nice guy.

I dont think speeding or street racing is dumb, but i do think you have to be careful, like do a quick research of the street, or better yet take the street racing right to the highway, everythings safe as long as your smart about it!

jake00, yes it's some Texas law. I remember that...you can't have more than 1 non-family member in your truck for like 6months. Pfffffftttt....yea right

I've only gotten a passing violation ticket. That was my first year of driving. I took that defensive driving and its all good

i never got a speeding ticket yet. but i don't speed either even though cops here don't give many tickets. especially not when they're looking to get a raise from the government. they'll write less tickets and put premium gas in their cars so the government gets less money

that's when everyone goes bananas. you can be driving the limit or just over the limit, passing one of those semis locked at 55mph, and some lunatic going 90 mph will come out of nowhere and pass on the shoulder or come right up on your rear bumper and start flashing his high beams and honking at you to move. that's why i like my f150. with 6 feet of steel behind me i don't have to move.

no cameras at intersections, radar traps, or DUI checks either. makes for lots of interesting accidents especially on weekends and holidays. then they wonder why our public insurance premiums are so high with people driving around like drunken lunatics trying to murder people with their cars.

only here in my town we're served by the provincial police and they tend to watch for speeders around school zones, and dangerous intersections. i'm all for that. i usually drive below the speed limit in residential streets and where there are kids

Try 75 mph in 35 mph downtown zone.

I've been driving since 2000, no tickets, no accidents, i didn't even get pull over in past 3 years. I only got pull over once, back in 2002 for driving 45 mph in 35 mph zone. Just friendly warning.

But last summer I was driving from Chicago at 2:00 a.m., and I was driving over 90 mph in 55 mph zone. Cop just drove next to me and didn't even look at me.

If you speed you will eventually have to pay you SPEEDING TAXES, you can get a tax break by using a radar detector, but you will still end up paying some amount of SPEEDING TAX, just not as often.
