Split forum, when that happen????

When did the new OBS forum start???

I haven't been here for the last few days and I was just wondering, and letting everyone else know, cuz it took me over an hour to realize it was there.

It's part of an effort to give diesels a little more attention, since the market is growing every year. Would have given advance warning but in all frankness the execution was made within a few minutes of agreement by the admins.

hey ken i think a vote of all members, supporters and moderators would of been a little better dont you? than just changing it. i think for the most part for 2 totally different trucks we kept it pretty clean as far as not arguing about what truck was better(we got along great imho). oh well

edit: let me be more specific how the forum was 94.5-03. the exclusive diesel section = cool.... splitting the 7.3's up = not cool

Hmmm, this is a surprise for me too. And I also would have voted to keep the 7.3's in one forum.
But I'm not the boss.

I agree......the 7.3s should not have been seperated. There are few questions concerning "body style" specific problems as compared to the majority of questions about the 7.3. It tends to dilute the knoledge base for the engine.....especially when a 7.3 is a 7.3.

Splitting up the forum it gives us two things:

1. Enough sections to justify a diesel-only section.
2. It allows more growth in topics. Sections reach "critical mass" where they simply won't get any more daily posts because there are so many that topics posted in the morning are on page two by the evening. By splitting these up it positions the 7.3L sections for more growth.

The decision has been made for valid reasons and not everything is up for a vote --- nothing would get accomplished if made site/business decisions based on votes. Sometimes change is difficult for some people to accept but we've been through this with several other sections and each time its made the new sections more vibrant (for example, splitting up 61-79 into 61-66/67-79 and later to 61-66/67-72/73-79).

OBS guys don't worry we're not that far away. Nothing to be afraid of, we can still help you from the other side.
All in fun guys. I think Ken hit the nail on the head. It's nothing to check the page in the morning and have a page and a half more by the afternoon. I try to help out when I can. Sometimes it's when I'm at work and it's tough to wade through all the posts.

And with that I agree with the reasoning on splitting the forums too. It's not good to get lost in the crowd.

I think it will be kinda fun. Since I know the OBS trucks inside and out. I wont have to put up with you SD guys. NO NO just razzin ya all.

I think it will be for the better, main reason again, a post in the morning is on page 2 by evening when alot of us get here. and I did vote.
