I need some help with front axle identification. I found a '74 4x4 highboy f250 approx. 300 miles away through a wanted ad while advertising for a ford with a dana 60 frontend. We need the frontend for a mini-monster truck application for my son. I know the axle type is cast into the housing below the pumpkin, but the owner (a woman) can only locate numbers on the pumpkin itself. I'm playing havoc deciphering the two rows of numbers she gave me....help with this would be appreciated as she only wants 500 for the truck and it runs and looks pretty good. Here are the two rows of numbers...

any help, or guidance in the right direction, would appreciated
I have no clue. I am the second owner of this truck. Before it was owned by my grandfather. I just crawled under there today to find the tag and this is what it said. i had no idea what the numbers meant. how would I find out the gear ratio?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Jul-02 AT 11:04 PM (EST)]If the rear axle has never been serviced, look at the 1x3 metal door (driver's) data tag. Under AXLE, look for the code. Post the code and I'll tell you.
If that is a dana 60 in the front, and the truck runs, drives, and looks fairly presentable, maybe it's worth the 500 dollars or at least a 300 mile drive to take a look-see. What do you mean by an open differential?
