I posted this awhile ago in the electrical forum but got no response. I am close enough on my rebuild to start thinking about my electrical system. I have two wiring harnesses and neither lookes to be very good shape. I can spray contact cleaner on the ends and hope for the best.
Instead, I wanted to know how hard it'd be to get my hands on a new one and where to go for it?
Maybe try centechwiring.com, this is where I bought a whole truck harness but I think they do custom stuff. The guy I talked to was real patient and really knew what was going on.
Take the wiring harness apart and inspect all of the wires and connectors. The connectors can be disassembled and individual contacts cleaned and soldered if necessary. Vinegar or dilute muriatic acid will clean corrosion off contacts after they have been cleaned with brake cleaner, rinse well!
Since I have two, I will try cleaning the best one, and use the other for backup if I find I need something. Thanks for the tips on how to do this.
If I run into any issues with it that go beyond what I can deal with, I will try the centetech people, maybe look them up anyway see what it will cost.
