Post Steering Column Wiring Harness

I'm replacing some parts in the column shift automatic transmission control unit below the steering wheel. Lots of bundled wires for the horn, turn signals, etc. pass through some of the castings I need to remove. Is there a place along the steering column where this bundle might have a plug connector? Can I free up the bundle somewhere so I can maybe pull it out a few inches?
This is my first post to the board although I have been reading for a while. I think it is one of the most useful and well organized boards out there. About 5 months back I bought a 1975 F250 4X4 Highboy for my first old truck. Had a 77 F250 4x4 back in late 70's but always would have rather had a 73-76. The wife hates it, I love it. She won't let me park it in front of the house so I keep it next to the motorhome at the storage lot. I normally drive a 2002 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 fully loaded, etc., so quiet and smooth to drive but I would much rather drive the F250. It's what a big old 4x should be.

Don,
You are replacing the blinker assembly. The gang plug is at thesteering column/dash area.
The problem is:
1. The gang plug is too large to pull up through the column.
This is what I remember and i did the job almost twenty years ago.
Unfortunately, the 73-76 is configured this way.
You will have to disassemble the gang plug. Before you do, first get a piece of paper and right down which color goes where. The colors don't match the female end. Now comes the good part. The replacement blinker assembly will have, still yet, another color pattern. You will need to record the position and color of that plug also. Dissamble the replacement part and reassemble after you have slid the wires down through the column. Use all the information you have collected to get the job done at all cost. It's really not that bad. You will be an expert by the time your done.

Fish, He only wants to pull it up a few inches.

Just disconnect the gang plug > The plug is just under the dash.
You can pull up on it about 4".

I'll check this out tonight. I'm actually trying to get to the area where the auto trans gear selector engages to put the truck in gear. Got it all apart, just that it would be A LOT easier if I could get a little more extension on the harness. I heard a snap! a few days ago and now the gear selector handle moves freely across the face of the indicator, not really engaging anywhere but I do seem to hit one of the forward gears occasionally.

The gear selector arm is at the bottom of the column under the hood.

Do you actually mean the gear Indicator P.R.D.2.L area on the column ?

I had a similar problem with my truck a few years ago. I was the shift collar. Bought a replacement from AutoKrafters, painted it black and installed it. Pretty simple job.
