A/C not blowing cold
This is rather complicated, so bear with me, please. A/C has been converted to 134a. When in A/C mode, temperature is about 10 degrees below outside temp. I bypassed the heater core, and the A/C now blows about 35 degrees below outside temp., which is about what I expected. Problem is, it doesn't appear to be the case that blend door is broken or missing. When in the full cold position, the blend door closes properly and diverts cold air into the system, but there is still a gap, which the door has nothing to do with, and which allows air around the heater core to mix with the cold air. I suspect that this is why the air is not reallythat cold, with the 187 degree air from the heater mixing with the cold air. Anyway, there is no indication that any part is missing, that is, no remnants from plastic pieces past in the duct work. Did Ford really design this system this way or am I missing something? What about vacuum controlled shut-off valves in the heater hoses? I read in another thread that some Ford trucks have these.
