According to the service manual for my vehicle, the thermostat starts to open at 192-199*. It is fully open at 219*.
Wouldn't a Fan Off setting any lower than 192* be pointless?
In my mind, the lowest setting should be like 194 because the fan turns off when the temp passes the specified off value. At 194, the fan will run until the engine cools down to 193. At that time, the thermostat is almost closed. The fan pulling air through the radiator is doing very little to the engine.
Am I on track, or am I missing something?
Isn't the engine coolant sensor in the engine block, not the radiator?
I agree that having the fan come on before 192 is not needed. However, the fan will come on whenever you have the AC system on. The coolant sensor is usually on the block but some electric fans use a probe in the radiator.
