What's The Difference?

I have a 92 ranger 2.3 auto that needs a new engine. I thought I could use an engine from 89-94 but after looking for a replacement it seems that in March of 93 they made some changes. I was told that I would have to change a lot of stuff over to the new engine and that would void the warranty on the engine. Anyone know what the difference is? They look the same to me.

i don't think the engines are very different. in 1992, ford totally redesigned the body but not the engine. they may not be exactly the same but i don't think there is a big difference.

I don't think there is a big difference either except for the $100.00 extra the salvage want's for the direct fit engine and no warranty for the so called non direct fit.
