Hey all,
My son-in-law has an 85 BII with a 2.9/5-speed. The output shaft on the transfer case snapped off clean. He just got another BII ( 85 I think ) as a donor truck. Only problem is, the donor truck is an automatic. My question is will the transfer case from the auto interchange with the 5-speed with out too many problems ? Thanks in advance for any response!
If both are mannul t-cases they will work,if both are elec, shift they will work. If one is elec. and you got a mannul one in your truck then you will need ALL the wireing and controls for the elec.one. if your truck is a elec shift you will need ALL the lickage from the donor truck to make it work.Hope this makes sense.
GrayRanger,
Thanks for that info. Yes, it did make sense. The donor truck has electric shift and the truck it is going into is manual. Can the electric one be changed over to manual without too many problems?
Thanks again, Don
You will have to swap ALL the wireing for it to work.I'm not sure if the manual truck has the power conections to do that swap.Someone with more knowlage the I would have to help you with that.I don't think I would want to do it.There a bunch of elec.stuff to swap.
Try to find you another manaul t-case.
Well, he is on the road again! He finally decided to go to a local boneyard and get the right t-case. Now he is gonna take what he wants off the donor truck and part the rest out.
Thanks for the help! Don
