THANKS FOR THE ADVISE SO FAR EVERONE , HERE IS ANOTHER QUESTION. WHY DOOR HINGES ARE IN GREAT SHAPE AND THE LOCKS WORK GOOD TOO BUT EVERTIME I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD MY DOORS RATTLE, HOW DO I TIGHTEN THE DOORS UP OR TAKE THE SLOOP OUT OF THE DOORS?
You probably need new door striker posts. There should be a plastic collar around the striker post. This gets brittle over time and falls off. You should be able to find them in the help section for cheap. Or check at the parts counter. You might try looking at the passenger's side door. Usually that one is still there because that door isn't used as much as the driver's side.
ryan,
The cab has a seal that is glued around the cab door opening. When this seal degrades it allows the door to bounce around. Replace the seal and you may find its difficult to close the door until the seal gets crushed down a little. This can also reduce cab noise alot!!! i added insulation to the doors and this reduces cab noise levels significantly.
Consider it.

ryan1120 please refrane from posting in all caps. it's considered yelling
i have to agree with dfisher1 and the seal thing. i have a similar problem but not on my truck. on a 74 dodge 200. door was harder to shut for a while but it did stop vibrating
good way to tell f it is the seal or the striker bolt is to wrap the striker bolt in electrical tape. If this stops the rattle there is your problem. If not probably the seal. I used this meathod to track down the rattle in my truck. Don't try to use the tape as a lonf term solution...just to find the problem. I replaced the striker bolts in my 78 and have almost no rattle now...have to hit a bump pretty hard to hear anything.
