Help please, and quick!
Ok so I went to wire my sub and amp this evening. Nothing. nada. zip. zilch. And I am beyond mad. I have a Clarion DXZ555MP HU with three sets of RCA plugs, no wiring diagram, and not a clue which to use to go to the amp. I tried them all, nothing to the amp. Amp is hooked up, power and ground, REM is spliced into the accessory wire on the HU. Someone tell me what I am doing wrong I only have a few hours left to finish it in!

Some HU have two remote turn on leads, power ant. and amp. The power ant. output will not have enough volts to actualy turn on the amp. The wires are usually blue and blue with white, use the blue for the amp. That's all I can think of, unless one of the components are acutally damaged or the RCA's are bad.

You should be able to turn on the amp by putting a wire from the constant +12V over to the remote turn on, if that doesn't work, then it's not because of the RCA's. Is there a light that turns on when the amp is up and running? What about the HU, does it have a setting to turn on and off the RCA's for the subs?

Heya Romer, thanks for your response, got it after placing mine. SO just splice a small (will a 14 guage cut it?) wire into the main 12V source and run it to the REM light? The POWER LED light is on at all times.

adding voltage to the REM line is good for a test but you need to hook that to the stereo REM output

14awg will work. I was just saying to try this just to make sure that it is powering up, and that there is power to the amp. What do you mean the POWER LED light is on at all times? Like even when the keys are removed and the HU turned off? Double check your gains too.

Yup I'll be online all night probably. I ran a 14 guage wire from the positive terminal into the REM terminal. Turned the HU on, nothing. I actually thought it was on for a sec, but alas, the song just sounded good and the HU was kickin' some good bass outta the mains.
Yes, the power LED light is staying on at all times. Actually looking out the window I can see a dim green glow on the passenger side. Still on...

Well then, we know the amp is turning on. Have you checked and rechecked your wires to the subs too? Make sure the RCA's are plugged into the HU and amp, maybe they could've gotten unplugged while putting the HU back in the slot. With the HU out, plug into different RCA outputs through the RCA cables. This is all I can think of to do right now.

Went through every available RCA pair. Nothing. Pulled sub out, checked it's wires, good. Connector is good. Wires from connector to amp are good. All are the same in terms of positive/ground.
Still totally confused...any more suggestions? I am tempted to resort to having a "professional" install it, or finish it rather...

Any chance the RCA outputs on the HU are fried? If you have a low level converter you can try to get an output signal from the speaker leads off the HU, or connect the speaker leads to the low level inputs of the amp (if it has any).
Can you borrow another amp to try out? If you push in the sub cone does it move freely, should be stiff but not hanging up on anything. Running out of options, you probaly have a bad HU or bad amp.

HU is practically brand new, all the RCAs are good, the indicator on the radio comes on when they are plugged in and they all look great. Pulled the covers off of them just to hook this amp up. As for the low level inputs, I have high level (speaker?) inputs that it says I can wire into a speaker. No clue how to do this, enlighten me please. I pulled the carpet again today to make sure I hadn't drilled through the RCAs, nope. Reground the amp. I'll see about borrowing another amp.
On a good note, I did pull the sub outta it's box today and noticed the ground wire had come loose off of it. Fixed that, ran back to the truck figuring "woot I fixed it" plugged it in, nothing. I was mad. Drilled holes in the box and ran wires straight through holes (no connector in the wall of the box), wired it to my surround sound system in my room, kicked right on and ran great. Took it back outside, didn't work. I intend to go out early in the morning and pull the sub when it's actually in the box in my truck and tighten all the connectors and make sure the wires are still hooked up. I'll get back to you after that.

I found it!!! Ok here's the thing. Press the "[ADJ]" button, then slide the ">>" button twice untill you come up on "AMP CANCEL" turn the rotary **** one click from "OFF" to "ON", and Voila! Should work.
The ADJ button is below the rotary **** to the left.. in case you didn't know. And, you might have to slide [>>] more than twice.
