I have a 85 Bronco II with a 5 speed and I have a few questions. The idle varies from high to low after driving it for a while. I was told that there is a modulator or something on the fender well that could be bad anyone have any ideas? What size tires did these come out with and what is the largest size I can put on with out problems? Also what kind of fuel mileage should I expect to get? Just a ballpark figure will do. Never owed one of these before so any help that I can get would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob
welcome to fte first off i would recommend you read the first top posts in the bronco2 forums and that will answer some of your questions right off the bat.
the module meaning the heatsink for the tfi module? I don't know if the 1985 bronco II's has those I can find out and tell you but if you can't find it than you probably don't need to worry about it. I have a 85 B2 2.8l(carb) and the only module that you are discribing is mounted on the distributor right in front of the firewall. It could be the module(tfi) or (ICM) ignition control module. My B2 is having the same problem it is either the (ICM) or check the carburetor setting and sensors they have alot to do with high/low idle. I would seriously go to a auto part store and buy a haynes/chiltons repair manual. I will hopefully set you in the right direction. Unless im too late and you already found it. What size eng? Carbureted or EFI? Sorry if I am totally off. I'll keep an eye on this to see what you figured out.
the tfi-IV module stands for thick film integrated-iv ignition system, also known as the (icm)ignition control module. it should look like this pic below.
