My transfer case is leaking aroound the front output shaft. Do I have to drop the transfer case and open the whole thing up or can I fix that while its on the truck?
Also, does anyone have any links to a good exploded view of this transfer case?
what kind of transfer case is it and wich out put is leaking,if its leaking around the yoke on the shaft you wont but if the split in the cases is leaking then yes you would,if the seals are leaking you just remove the drive shaft and remove the nut on the yoke and rmove the yoke but you'll probably need a seal puller that you can get wherever you get the seal hope this helps you
yes, thats good news. I don't want to have to pull that xfer case again
it the Borg Warner 1356 and the out put shaft for the front driveshaft is leaking.
on that exploded view it sure does look like they have 2 seals on the front output shaft.
Is this true? I think I only have one on there.
I can't tell what the numbers are referring to.
#17 looks like a seal and #19 looks like one of the arrows is pointing to another seal.
Whats going on here?
In the kit I ordered I had one seal left that I had no idea where it went. Maybe thats it, I still don't know the order and orientation that the two seals go on the shaft if that is the case.
Anybody know anything about this?
It leaks really bad; like there is nothing holding it back. It would leak out as fast as I could pour it in.
#19 is a wear sleeve and dust seal it makes the yoke size a little bigger to keep oil in you should check the yoke for a groove in the surface if it has one you should have wear sleeve installed or find a bettter yoke without groove
mine looks exactly like yours mociaz except it has a stream of transmission fluid coming form it.
I guess what I need to do is take that one out and put the one with the dust seal in.
The seal was not the problem. THe correct seal was the one without a dust cover on it. The leak was coming from a disconnected vent hose which was hanging above the seal and dripping on it which gave the appearance of the seal leaking.
