a few months ago i bought my second ranger. it is also a 2000 and has the 3.0. this one is white 2wd regular cab and bed. it sits a little higher than a normal 2wd but it is at stock ride height for this model. i guess some were going to be 4wds but were left 2wds at the factory so this is why it sits like it does. no complaints by any means! its a really clean little truck with a bed-liner and charcoal nerf-bars to go with the bumper colors. i bought it like this at carmax for a little over $9,000 with 41,000mi on it. was it a good deal or no?
I don't know if this is true at the Ranger factory, but at another factory, they don't allow vehicles to leave unless they are correct, meaning a car can come off the line in perfect condition, but if the color was supposed to be blue and it's actually painted red, they have to fix it. Who told you that your vehicle was an "accidental" 2wd?
thanks for the reply. i ran into a guy that had the exact truck only red at an oasis. he made a remark about the nerf-bars and we got to talkin about my other pride and joy. then i mentioned the ride height on our trucks and he gave me this line. well i feel pretty stupid for listening to him, but it seemed kinda credible considering that i have seen quit a few of these at the same height and they're not 4wd.
Sounds like you got a nice truck there. 41K means it's barely even broken in.
Some Rangers do leave the factory higher than others, at least it seems that way to me. My Ranger came from the factory with P265/75/RX15 tires (an upgrade from the P215's) and I'm fairly certain that the vehicle height was raised a little to accomodate the larger tires. I've had my truck parked right next to other Rangers and the height difference is noticeable, even taking into regard the larger tire size.
thanks for the info on the ride height. i thought there was a reason for this and now that you mention it, the tires ars a bit larger than say a parts truck. it really is a nice little rig, i bought it for my wife and she loves it, she won't let me do anything to it though like put on a bug-deflector. women. well as soon as i figure out how to get my pics of my ladies on here you guys can see what i'm so proud of. by the way rockledge, you've got a nice collection of fords there!
