Jeraco makes a very good quality cap. It's the only cap I could find that doesn't have aluminum mounting rails. I keep caps for many years and I have found that, over time, the aluminum rails will crack the clamps. I had a Jeraco on my 1984 F350 and after 20 years, that cap was still as solid as the day I bought it. I sold that cap with the truck and I put a new Jeraco on my 2005 F250. This cap is every bit as good as the last one.
WHY does Ford have the dumb@ss taper to the beds on the SD trucks?
I've got an old,no name glass cap I bought for $100 in the '80s.Came off a '71 Dodge.I had it on my '68 Chevy, then when I broke down and bought a NEW truck in '90 (Ford),it went on that.Fit fine on then all.Went to put it on my brother's '99 F250 PSD to go to Maine a few years back, and it was WAY too wide in the back. Now I've got a '05,and I'm having trouble finding another cheap cap that'll fit.And when I do find one for the truck, seems most all are shortbeds.Dave
