I finally got done with putting my 79 cab on my 76 frame and got everything hooked up but I don't have any spark. i have about 6.8v running into the coil from the ignition module and about 13.8v coming from the batt./ignition switch.--but there is nothing coming out of the coil. I have already tried putting in a known good coil and ignition module but still got nothing. I have also tested the pickup coil and that checks out o.k. Any suggestions/advice on what to do next? anything else to check?
Try jumping 12 volts direct to the coil plus and see if you can start it. This will bypass the ignition system, dont run it for hours and hours like this
Let us know if it starts, then we can go from there.
You might consider installing a MSD ignition. You can upgrade it later to the dash mounted timing control where you can adjust the timing while you drive.

Ok where are you checking for spark?
If you are checking at the coil output and still no spark. Bad coil, bad coil output wire, lack of ground (green/yellow wire from distributor negative to ignition module), bad ignition module, to name a few possibilities.
If you have spark at the coil output and none at any sparkplugs... rotor button, distributor cap, 8 dead sparkplugs or wires
