I tested a 390 on my dyno and was impressed, this would be an ehtanol motor, 632 lbs of torque at 4000 rpm and 606 hp at 5500 rpm with 12:1 compression. ported and 2.19/1.73" valves, 600 4 barrel single plane max flow, large step race headers, max ramp rate, 220 duturation 108 lobe seperation angle, 109 lobe centerlines, .400" lift, that is good potential, I would be satisfied with 500 lbs of torque and 370 hp, I would run solid lifters with rollers if I could afford it. Make my own headers with a tubing bender, used intake and carb, I have a 600 adn 780 holley right now, I would spend my money on mostly valvetrain, pistions if needed, distributer, any wiay if I am out of line correct me.

WTF, i would use 2.09/1.65 valves, 600cfm, rpm intake, 1.75 headers(no stepped race header), a 112-114 ls, with 4 degerees adavnce, so 108-110 intake centerline, 500 lift.

Dude... that's harsh. Once you've actually built a motor, come back and talk about it.
Go ahead and build whatever you want. I wont impede...
??????????????? 2.190/1.730" Valves in a 390??? Hell I cant get those size Valve's in my 4.160" bore !!! and you got em in a 390...Impressive!! anyway 2.090" and 1.730" make more power with my combo..
I would run it off alcohol, you were right, but I think some one thought I actually built that motor, I was thinking that I would run 9.5:1 compression because there arent many alcohol stations only one in california that I know of and if I wanted to leave town I would have to carry all of my fuel with me. I could just have an extra set of metering blocks jeted for 91 octane gasoline so I can just swap them in when I have to run gasoline. I would run alcohol primarly becasue it is much more affordible than gas if I make it.
