Unhappy Brake problems (again)

First off, I LOVE THIS TRUCK!, Second, I have only had it since 11/04, every two thousand miles the front end starts to shake again. I have had the rotors replaced, and they have been turned 3 times now. I also had the rack and pinion adjusted. Everything that has been done, does nothing, after 2k miles, the rotors are warped again. Is anybody else experiencing this also? I baby the truck, try to keep it under 2k rpm's, coast as much as possible and brake easy and early (with a few stomps now and then for the blue hair's who pull in front of me!). I think I no longer have a choice, I am going to have to contact a lemon law attorney, this truck is great except for the brakes. I don't feel I should have to go to aftermarket brakes, afterall I did not get the family price when I bought, and 30k is too much to spend to get cruddy brakes! Any help?

Thanks,

Doug

maybe calipers are sticking. have you checked those. That is about the only thing I can think of that would cause brakes to wear out like that. If the calipers are sticking check the hoses that go to for twist or creases that wouldnt allow the fuild to return like it should. GL

Well, your not alone on this one. I have a 04 Screw 4x4, that has the exact same issues. Three attempts at correcting the warping rotors, either cutting or replacing rotors and the vibration still happens. I filed with the BBB Auto line, and won. They are replacing the truck with an 06, I am paying a mileage charge only.

Just prior to the hearing I had ford remeasure the warped rotors and they were 5 times over the max spec. I didn't let them fix them, as I wanted the inspector to drive the truck with the vibrations still happening.

Here's the best part of the whole experience. During the hearing I pulled out the latest measurements on the rotors being 5 times over max. spec, and presented it to the arbitrator. Ford's come back to that was "well how does it drive?". My imediate comment was "what takes precident, the computuer measurements and fords specifications, or "how it drives". The ford rep went silent, and said she will check into that. The arbitrator just looked at me with an amazed look on his face. That comment still to this day amazes me.

You can PM me for more details and some advice on how the hearing process works, I don't want to bore anyone with the details. I did opt for the replacement, in lue of the buy back as I really do like the new F150.

Turning rotors is a complete waste of time. Next time they suggest that say no thanks and get new rotors. Rotors that are warped from heat will re-warp in no time at all. Been there done that with a few trucks pulling heavy trailers.

Also, make sure that when your wheels are put back on your truck, they use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts.

It is possible that this has been the source of the problem all along. Especially if the same shop/techs worked on it every time. I hope you get it worked out.

I agree on the rotor cutting, But I was told by my service advisor that Ford is now instructing them to cut the latest rotor update. It also made the tech chuckle, as he new exactly what I was thinking.

thanks for all the good info. I went in and they wanted to cut the rotors again, then they measured them and figured out that they would not meet the specs, so again, they put on new rotors. I asked the tech if the new rotors come with the 12 month, 12k mile warranty, he laughed and said "NO", IT IS WARRANTY WORK, YOU DONT GET A WARRANTY WITH THAT! I asked if I had been a cash paying customer, would it get the warranty and he said yes! What kind of cr@# is that? I have 10500 miles, and my brake warranty will be up at the 12k mark, eventhough they just put new rotors on.
sheesh!
