Have had the rotors on my 03 Expy machined a few times, then replaced due to shake when braking (warping, I presume). After they replaced them, it was better for a while, but has gotten progressively worse, and now the shake is horrible. I do have the newer low-dust brake pads. Is there something that can be done, or a better set of rotors?? I am still under warranty, and think Ford should pony up, but want to have my ducks in a row before I go visit them again.
Is it possible that there is a problem with your calipers?
I know that if calipers stick, even slightly, they can quickly overheat and warp the rotors, which is where the pulse in the pedal comes from.
On an older vehicle of mine, I did a full brake job in the front and within a very short time had pulsing in the pedal again. It turned out the the piston in the caliper was worn and slightly cocked in the bore - it would go out to apply pressure but would not release properly.
Both sides? or just one? if you get out of the truck after driving it and touch each wheel (careful), is one significantly hotter than the rest?
