Well...This is what I have observed...it may not apply to you since you are talking about the width of the seat...however:
I found when I first purchased my truck that my azz would be sore after lengthy trips...I had my seat adjusted like I would in a car (which is a lot lower than the truck). The seat was reclined back slightly....I adjusted my seat to a more "upright" position and haven't had a problem since (which takes the stress off your tail bone). In other words I got rid of the "gangsta lean" that my seat had.
So I dunno if you are a big guy you may wan't to try and lower the seat and put the seatback in a more upright position and see if that helps you.
