Every time I would turn on my AC it would pull my alternator gauge real low. Thats not suppose to happen. Yesterday I was under my bronco on the passenger side looking up into the engine compartment. I saw a ground wire that just clips on to the body and the frame. I wiggled it to see how tight it was and it moved easy. So I cleanned it up so this it could get a good ground. You know, just genneral maintenance. Well since I did that, I can run my AC now and it does not pull may gauge down but just a hair, like you would expect.
man, I hate the way a loose ground can ruin your day, as it is right now my 77 has a couple in the dash I need to track down to get full use of the gauges at night.
Yeah, Ford used woven ground straps with a cleat on the end to slip over the metal edges of frame rails and portions of the body. I have put them in place and run a "tech" (self tapping metal) screw through the cleat into the frame to ensure it doesn't suffer the problem that poffutt mentioned.
