Went to the NSRA (National Steet Rod Asso.) Nationals in Richmond Va. a couple weeks ago-1st time event there AND allowing vehicle 1975 and down (usally 1948 and under) AND THERE IT WAS---- A bright red 1966 shortbed pickup-- with 2066 over the side Lightning emblems.Complete 2000 Lightning running gear and frame with the 66 cab and bed---NOT only running gear BUT complete Lightning interior with air bags, 2000 dash, seats , everything!!! THIS THING WAS DONE RIGHT!!!!Exhaust out right side in front of wheel, rear bumper off 2000-----A supercharged 2066 Lightning- bound to be in a magazine somewhere!!!! Had Va. plates on it---A HAVE TO SEE TRUCK!!!!!
I saw one like it in a mag this weekend (maybe Truckin?). It wasn't red though, it was a black 66. It didn't have Lightning seats in it either. It had recovered (in gray and black) Cutlass buckets. It too had a 200 L running gear. The magazine dummies called the transplanted Lightning rear end a 9". Showed me how much they knew (or didn't). The dang engine was detailed with polish and chrome so much, it was almost blinding. It has the lightning bolt on the sides, and the SVT on the tailgate. One sweet ride. It made me wish I hadn't given away the 66 I had that looked just like it. Without all the Lightning stuff of course.
