Several ?'s

1- I am using Delo and even though I only have 6K (in over a year) I changed it @ 5k much to the Ford techs dimay...he said every 10k...5k was too soon, even though I was towing for over 3.5k miles of the 6k.

2-Transmisson change? when? the trailer I pulled this summer was about 5k lbs and with my previous gas rigs I would change it after any long towing trip, however my friends ( w/ ford diesels) said wait and the dealer say wait until the 36k or at the leats 15k...also how should I drain the tourque conv.?...no cover so do I drain the trans and then disconnect the cooler and start it up like I did with my gas rigs to pump it out? Or just let the dealer do it ($285) where they flush it.

3- Exhaust: is it worth it to go to 4 or 5"? I love the "jet engine sound" but it would have to have an advantage for the wife to let me do it at $450.00 and how about the Cat? The shop here wants to cut it off and go from there...I know the violation etc. and read Gale Banks disertation about how leaving the Cat on has no adverse affects to performance. But, and here's the thing, two of my friends one with a '99 and '03 have recieved letters from DMV to make a required appt. to smog their diesels...could it be that CA is onto the cutting of CATs off? Even though those didn't come with them.

Thanks in advance.

i put 4 inch stainless on mine turbo back with a magnaflow muffler and i love it, i also get comments about once a week on how good it sounds, also if u want a little more turbo sound try going with an aftermarket intake, i have an airaid on mine and i love it. i also use delo and change it about every 5-6 thousand. the tranny will hold if the motor is stock, i have an edge programer in mine and stock tranny and i have over 15000 on it

I don't think i'll be doing and chips- has plenty of power for me. I have heard that the paper filters are best as is the stock filter. is the airaid filter paper?...i also saw a k&n intake and filter setup thats new for the 6.0...but its not paper is it?

Where do you live that they charge $285 for a tranny flush. The manual says to flush / change every 25k. Sounds like you pull and stay a while or don't use the truck that much.

Live in central CA...thats with fluid...and I'm not going to do it unless I flush the torque converer also...well I'd love to drive it a lot but at 3.20 a gallon I'll drive grandmas '95 sable with 35K back and forth to work (she gave it to me last year when she went into a home;she's 96), plus it gets better milage for short trips, and I've heard to drive a diesel short trips is harder on it than driving it hard so yeah I save it for church evey few sundays; summer camping usually 3 plus weeks at a time and hunting which I do all year long (hogs) and I need the 4wd; which by the way sucks in these big heave trucks, deffinatley not for anything but light off-roading.
