I'm almost done with my restore on my 79 F150. I've been working on it all summer, a body guy who owns his own shop is exchanging me helping him for him helping me fix up my truck. I've learned a whole bunch about body work. Anyways, about my truck. I didn't have enough time or money to do a frame up restoration but I have done quite alot. My old bed had rust on the wheelwells so I found one with just surface rust and straightened it out. I replaced one of the doors because it had a tear in the metal. I also replaced one of the cab corners. I added a cargo light as well. The guy that had it before me liked gadgets and there were a ton of holes in the dash because of it. I filled all those in and now it looks like new. I took out the yellow **** carpet that was in it and ordered some factory carpet. I'm also reupolstering the seat. I painted the frame and engine bay black and the air filter and voltage regulater ford blue. The truck was orginally jade so I decided to keep it that color. It's metallic so it looks really good in the sunlight. I can't wait till we get it finished next week!! I've been waiting all summer for it.
Its got a 460 in it with a C6 trans. What exactly is a running gear? (sorry, i don't know much about the mechanical side of trucks but I'm trying to learn)
