I got a '79 F-150 2WD 4-SPD, with a 302. I just bought a set of headers from summit racing. I can't get the passenger side header to fit. I pulled the starter out, but the collector from the header won't clear the bellhousing. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Yes I had the same problem you had when installing my 351 in my 79 F100. If you don't know a 351 and 302 are almost identical so I have the exact setup as you do. What i had to do was place the headers in the engine compartment to the side. The driver's side is pretty easy so you might not have to do it on that side. Then i had to lower the motor down and wiggle the header until i got a bolt started. Then it was basicly easy, just scoot the header around until the others line up.

yeah, I was thinking about lifting the motor after I posted the message. How hard is it to remove/install the starter after the header has been installed on the passenger side?
