7.3 problems...

I have 99 PSD it's hard to start unless I have it plugged in no matter how warm it is. Then after it starts it's real dog until I get upto 55mph. I put my programer on it set it to tow safe and then it runs fine at all speeds. But still hard to start. I put different motor in a few months ago. Never has run right since. It ran fine before that. So I am wondering if might not have gotten something hooked up right. There some vacuum looking lines over by the passenger side fender that didn't get hooked up. I can't figure out where they go. I just not sure that is my problem. Any help would be great. Thanks

Make sure the MAP (manifold air pressure) sensor is hooked up. It is on top of the a/c box on the passenger side, next to the reciever dryer. It connects to the manifold Y.

Yeah there is alot of white smoke. Just until it's warm. I think map sensor is hooked up. The thing right behind the battery on the passenger side is what I am wondering about. I think it some kind of idle sensor.

I thought the lil Vac. motor was over there, on the SD's the one that makes vacume for the vent stuff and the auto 4x4 actuators.

prolly just bad GP's causing the smoke. When the engine is warm does it still start real hard????

Starts great as long as it's been warmed up.

That makes sense then about that vac motor. Still runs funny at low speeds no matter how warm the motor gets.

It looks like a starter solinoid, and on your its right behind the A/C pump, over the passenger valve cover.

Alright thanks found that I have a spare I am going test the one that is in there. When different motor in the truck it had it's own injectors. Could it be injectors are wrong? Is there that big of difference?

YES. there is a huge diference in the injectors after '97 the 94-97 trucks have single shots, the 99+ and some '97 cali trucks have splitshots.

What year is the new motor??? if it is a 99 or new you are fine.

It is 99. I was told by the guy I got the motor from that letters should match on the injectors. The motor was out of 2000. Only other thing is my truck is early 99. I just changed the plug relay this morning. Tested the old one no voltage on plug side. So I put the extra one I had in and started right off. Checked the voltage 12v on the plug side.

So does it start now???? You should have 12V to ground on one bolt all the time, and 12V to ground on the GP bolt, ONLY when the GP's are activated, which is when the engine is cold, you will here the relay click.

Yeah it starts and no white smoke anymore. There is 12v on both sides when WTS light is on. The old relay was toast.
