I am i the process of restoring a 1975 for f100 that needed a lil' work i have put new doors on it...new fenders and a new floorboard. i am looking for a passenger side bed skin (the whole thing) to replace my old one. i have looked at LMC and they have one for $250 somethin'. do you know any other places that have better deals than that?
That'll probably be about the best deal you'll find. If you see one for much cheaper it is probably low quality. I ended up patching the sides of my '75 F150 with the full wheel arch patch panels. They fit very well and I used panel adhesive with rivets. Smoothed them out with filler and sealed the backsides. You would never know it ever had rust unless you poked around underneath. They sell for about $40 a side I believe. Granted, it probably takes around the same time to do either and the entire quarter will always be a better repair. But if you wanted to save a few bucks and the quarter is otherwise salvageable you could take it into consideration. Oh, and don't forget you may need new inner arches, too. Make sure and pop some drain holes in them and coat them well with a rust preventative paint.
ok, thanks for the help.i'm going to have to go with the full panel for two reasons 1) it is in really rusted really bad on the whole bottom of the truck and 2) i have already taken off the whole side of the truck. What about the floor of the bed? do you know of any places that sell those?
Matt
LMC Truck sells bed floors. I think the crossmembers are attached as well. It's around $350. They also have repair sections for the floor also. Other companies have half floor repair sections also. My floor was in pretty good shape so I didn't have to do much to it. Have you maybe considered finding a bed in better shape? There is a company out west i've seen on the internet that sells rust free beds....but they're a bit pricey. If you live along the east coast where I am a good bed for a '73-'79 is as rare as hens teeth.
