Ever seen these shackle flips.

I saw a shackle flip made by sky, at www.sky-manufacturing.com
for 73or78-97 Ford trucks and Broncos.
They are suposed to acheive 4.5" of lift for $135.
Now that's a little expensive, and I know you could just flip the shackle and get 3" of lift, but I was wondering if anyone has used or seen these.

I haven't used them myself but if you go into the offroad forum and find "fishmandotcom" look at his gallery. He's using them on a newer truck but it's the same exact bracket. My issue with them is they're made to bolt up to the same holes as the old rivets but this gives you a poor shackle angle. Additionaly they don't provide much lift over just flipping your shackle hanger. I still think the best option is to find a set of front hangers from a 4x4 and use them for the shackle flip as it gives much better lift. Otherwise, if you don't need much lift just flip your brackets upside down, move them forward for optimal shackle angle, drill new holes and bolt them up with grade 8 hardware.

I've read and seen how you and a few others have done the shackle flip, and I wasn't sure how the driveline angel would be after. Some people says it moves the axle forward, and brings the tire more into the wheel well. I don't want that, and I was wondering how these worked when I heard someone said they cost $80 and you get 4-5" of lift, but come to find out thery're $135, so I'll see if I sjould just do a regular shackle flip.
I only need about 3-4", so what do you guys think, blocks or shackle flip?

Shackle flip, always. Unless you use your truck to carry heavy loads all the time..

I won't be using it to carry heavy loads all the time, but I will use the truck to carry loads every now and then, so how much does the flip reduce load ability?
I think the flip is the best way to go, but does it change pinion angle alot, or is it fine?

Just noticed I hit 1,000 post.

If you look at my shackle flip gallery I have pictures that show the wheel placement before and after. It actually centers the wheel in the fender better. As far as driveline angle, it should turn your pinion up slightly since you're only dropping the rear of the spring. In my case, with the old rear axle it kept the pinion angle perfect. With the new axle I welded my perches on so I could position it any way I wanted.

Just wondering, did you have to cut off those rivets holding the shackle hanger to the frame or what?
Also, what did you use to put them back on, short grade 8 bolts or the same kind in grade 8?

People use all kinds of methods to remove the rivets. For me it was easiest to grind off the head and then drill out the center. Some people punch the centers through but I couldn't get that to work. I used grade 8 bolts, 1/2" I believe. I had to drill the holes slightly larger to make them fit, I believe the holes are 7/16.

I just used an air hammer with a chisel bit for the rivets on mine. The metal they use for the rivets is pretty soft.

Actually that's where I first saw them. I was just wondering if anyone used them and thought they were a much better upgrade than just a regular shackle flip, but I think that's what I'll do is go with the regular shackle flip.

Thanks for the help guys.
