Slip yoke issue

I m sure most of you aware that 04/05 F150 has some issue with slip yoke (shudder on take off only) and there is a TSB for it.

I had a little issue with my truck FX4 04 shudder on only take off straight.

My rearend limit slip already has replaced the clutch and its all good!

I decieded try it myself, i removed driveshaft, used regular Valvoline grease and applied it and it works as smooth for approx 4 weeks then it start slowly came back....

So i ordered Teflon grease thru Ford dealer part dept that they use it for TSB and i applied it and its sad to report, it only last 17 days !

Soo do you have any suggest BEST grease that doesnt dissolve quick and best last longer ??

I havent try mobil one grease...

ANy feedback?

Thanks!

slip yoke

As a dealer tech I am still fighting this problem. You are absoulutely right on
fords teflon grease it last 2 wks and comes right back. Called Ford engineering and they said try a different grease but they didn't have any suggestion. Great i allready know that. What i am currently test is motorcraft cv axle grease don't remember the part number but is simillar to the teflon
stuff but is more sticky. I think the last one I did has not been back for
about 6 wks so its better but im still testing. If any body has found something
that works let me know. This trial and error stuff with customers gets old really fast.

I use Polytac-ep grease from Phillips 66 it is a grease that is water resitant and operates from -40 to 400 degrees. I use it in wheel bearings and it is recomended for that purpose. I use it on farm equipment and have fund that it says put in that environment. It doesn't contain lithum or soap or lead.

a small blue cup grease for $38 last time i checked i deceded to try teflon ford but it last 17 days.

So i ll give GM grease a try as test.

I had that done to my new truck and it only has 600 miles. They ended up ordering a rear axle shim kit and I am currently awaiting the parts to arrive. Hopefully that will fix my clunking and shuddering noise from a dead stop.

I had the clunk/shudder from stop on my truck.....

dealership was initially going to do the clutchpack TSB but when they drove it a second time they decided to do this:::::

1) Slip yoke grease per the TSB
2) REPLACE U-Joint
3) PCM Flash

Ta Da! Clunk and Shudder gone now for 1,000 miles plus.....

I'm a happy camper, ask your dealership if they can do all 3 things for you.....

Well, my shim kit for the rear axle came in yesterday and my appointment is for this coming monday. They have already done the PCM flash and it did not make the noise go away. They also did the TSB for the slip yoke which did not help. According to the work order, they inspected and checked the U-joints and they were ok. I hope they do fix it as the truck only has 600 miles on it and it seems like it is getting worse as the days go by. I wonder if it could be my limited slip clutches that are messed up in it?

I know myself its slip yoke cuz i did it twice greased slip yoke and it rode smooth as sail but then when grease dissolved and it came back slowly.

I was told by ford tech to apply it with GM grease ( best one but PRICY! ) and i just ordered it and i ll test it then report back.

Some report that ford tech now use CV joint grease as a "test" and said it seems work after few weeks and no complain or report back to dealership.

I checked u joints etc and its all good- theres no play in there.
