I don't dare do something like that, it would be likely to give her a heart attack, not to mention she wouldn't even go out that door any more... she would have nightmares for weeks after as well. It isn't just a small fright for her, it is way serious... absolutely completely irrational fear...

100 % right on Fellro,
The fear of snakes is real, and puts the person that has that phobia in a VERY real, flight or fight mode. The closest time I ever come to shooting some one, was when I just got back from groundhog hunting, and had pulled in to my brothers farm to visit. One of his buddies had a big 4 ft long snake in a bucket that he had just caught. He pulled it out and headed toward me to show me, I warned him twice to keep it back away from me . He kept coming towards me with it and the next thing I know I was pulling out my Ruger 77V 25-'06 from behind the seat. I told him knee shots last forever and he stopped and turned back. I meant what I said.
one of the guys at work was afraid to touch a frog. t was trapped on a road we were working on and probably would have died or got squished by a machine so i picked it up and tossed it in the woods. the guy was really afraid to touch it.
This is really wierd, by mistake I started a thread here and then made it invisible ( I moved it to the pg13 forum) yet people are still posting to it.
Websters Seventh Collegiate Dictictionary - Phobia: to be frightened : An exaggerated unusually inexplicable and illogical fear of a object or particular class of objects.
Just want to clarify just what you mean? The phobias that are real tothe person are not a choice, they are not intentionally overreacting, it is so ingrained in them they do not even think about it, they just react. I am lucky in that I don't have any such problems, but to those afflicted with them, it is a very real problem that they simply cannot control. My wife has even tried hypnosis, and the doctors as well have all said that she will just have to cope, there is nothing they can do for her.

I apologize if I offended you (or anybody else here). My post was not intended to make 'light' of a very REAL problem. However I assure you, by pure definition, my phobia is quite real.
Phobia as defined by Dictionary.com:
pho·bi·a (fb-)
A persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous.
A strong fear, dislike, or aversion.
Satisfied?

I kinda figured it wasn't quite the way it came across, so I didn't really jump your case for that reason... wanted to give you a chance to clarify before someone REALLY took offense...
