Power Takeoff Provision?

Did a search and still can't figure out what it is. Wondering if I need this option on my next company vehicle.

It's there to power some device.. Usually a PTO will power a winch (tow truck), air compressor, generator etc... when the vehicle is stopped.

If you have something like that, then a PTO would be nice...

Is it 12vdc, 120vac or something different? Powering an offroad winch might be nice and how about an air compressor for some ARB airlockers?

From a dealership web site
A transmission-integrated PTO allows customers to mount powered accessories such as dump boxes, plow blades, liftgates, winches, skylifts, air brake compressors, auxiliary hydraulic pumps or other add-on equipment. The FORD PTO provides direct engine power for accessory equipment without the expense and installation time of separate, independently mounted electric motors or other power sources

It uses engine power to do the work...

Nice set up. I wonder what's the difference in transmissions, and if it were possible to retrofit a PTO provision.

The difference is the hole in the side of the case and the gear inside the trans. It's possible, but expensive, to retrofit.

I'm still working through all the threads, but can somebody tell me if the PTO shuts off everytime you hit the brake? This is what my upfitter is telling me and somebody at the dealership.

If this is the case, anybody have any ideas of bypassing this or reprogramming the computer? Pretty much worthless for trying to run a plow or salt spreader.

(You may have to type it in for it to work)

Go to 'Q-108 R1' and then page 11 for the info you need. Pressing the brake deactivates the PTO SEID for 3 seconds.

Thanks, it looks like the central hydraulics is going to have to work, shutting off for 3 seconds won't cut it for plowing and salting.

The problem is when you put a link between the "[url]" things and you include the "https://" in the link, the site adds another "https://" to your link. If your link starts with "www", the link will work.
