[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-Jul-02 AT 10:46 PM (EST)]im looking for headers to put on my 79 f250 supercab. it has a 460 with an automatic. i didnt know whether to get custom made ones or if there was a good company i can order them from.
I have dynomax headers on the 460 in the crew cab in my gallery, it is a 78. I like the fit, only had to put a dent in one tube, and they seem to be made well, the only thing I did not like is they are slip on's, no collector, but they work good.
I have the dynomax ones on my 77 F150 w/ 460 auto. They fit pretty good. I did have to move my brake proportioning valve down on the frame a bit to clear one tube. It did mention this in the instructions though. I would have prefered bolt on collectors myself, but for the price, you can't beat then. Mine sealed up pretty good too. I did go ahead and use double gaskets at the heads just to be sure though. As long as you retighten them a couple of times until the bolts stay tight ( unless you use locking bolts ) The gaskets will last. Mine have been on about a year now and I have no complaints at all.
Search this forum for more answers. There are many threads that might have the info you are looking for. Chances are it has been asked a couple of times b4.
Everybody here knows that L&L in Dallas , tx probably makes the best set of headers for the 460 in the 73-79 ford trucks-----they're not cheap, but you get what you payfor!!!fd ,
we all always have a problem with space for the headers.
headman headers are making shorty headers for a 460 now.
i seen them in the jegs catalog. i think they might
be a good idea and eliminate a lot of headaches.
good luck. glen bransfield
