My truck has lo or high speed wipers no intermitent...Can i just change out the switch with an intermitent or do i have to change the motor to...Any body know......
Your best shot is a salvage yard, especially one that will let you pull your own parts. That way you can see exactly how it should be "transplanted" in. I did it with Clyde and love my intermittant wipers.
This is a gratifying upgrade. My advice is to be patient when you find one at the bone yard. The little delay box is about 4" square and attached to the switch by wires that are about 9" long. It will be fairly well hiden. The switch comes out easy and the box should as well but they bolt it in a spot your hand doesn't fit go so you may end up doing cab gymnastics to get yourself in a position to see the box and it's fastener...
Good luck
Old thread I know but a very good one.
Can anyone post what years/vehicles can be used for a direct swap of switch and delay box to my 1982 F150.
Thanks

Have compatible switches and wiper govenor boxes if equipped. The 1987 and newer govenor boxes are redesigned and look different but work the same and are used as a Ford service part for all the models listed above when you buy a new one from the dealer.
The wire harness extention is a part of the wiper govenor, and will plug between the trucks wiring and the switch. No wiring required. No need of a different motor.
All you need is the intermittant wiper switch, and the wiper control govenor. Plug and play.
There's one item not mentioned. There's an extra wire (seen in the above pic) that must be grounded for the intermittant feature to work. Best place to ground it, is the screws that hold the governor to the dash.
I dunno why ford didn't just make that wire ground internally, would have been easier.....
