01 - engine trouble...lost #3 plug

2001 expedition with 112,000 on it and never hauled any thing . Just blow plug number 3 right out broke the coil pack and everything big hole. Could they tap out the hole from the outside with out taking the engine apart???

nope but this is a known problem with that year. it can be caught early and prevented with a plug change around 70,000 miles. you will need a new rebuilt head.

What other major problems could come up ? I just put a new tranny in 2 months ago? Should I dump it ?

Because this is so common there are fixs without taking the head off. Do a search and I think they are called bigsert or nutsert or something like that. similar to a heliacoil and done with the head on with common hand tools.

#3 misfire

My 03 Expy (30,000mi) just threw a #3 misfire code and engine runs rough. I have an appt Monday AM at the dealer. What happened with your repair? Luckily my problem happened on the last day of my 90 day warranty(Just bought the truck used in July). I just want to makesure the dealer dosent try to BS me. Any info would be appreciated.
