I went to look at the doppler because we just had some strong storms move through, and I knew in the forecast there was more, so I went to look. This is what I came up with. I find it really weird that this is almost a perfect circle (besides the percipitation in the middle).
Yep, happens everytime a UFO lands. If you have any occurance of "missing time", unexplained nose bleeds, or excessive rectal itch you may have been abducted.
could that be caused by a high pressure system over Tulsa? I know we have one over Dallas. it sometimes defflects storms coming from the NW and they'll go right around us sometimes. but I've never seen a circle like that.
I guess it has something to do with the radar sweep? At least you guys knew it was coming. I'm shivering, soaking wet in my office right now. They said it wasn't going to rain until tonight...that's a big negative.
I think it might be the difference between the Doppler radar and the Nexrad radar. I can't remember exactly how it goes, but one shows up better in a certain elevation range. So, if you have low or high clouds, it might not show up well in that round circle, because of the angle, but the other radar does bring it in. Since the two are somewhat superimposed, it show the way it does.
Then again, that might be what they want you to think...
it is due to the humidity. It is a false echo. Radar isn't perfect, so you have to interpet what it is showing. Obviously a storm will not form that way, so you have to dismiss it. Been seeing a lot of that lately around here, usually it is inside the circle, and does make it hard to see smaller showers. Generally when a strong storm is in the radar area the signal is clearer as the storm is using up the humidity like fuel.
I watched it on the tv and the weatherman was astounded, he said, "I have never seen a perfect circle like this." I do have to say it was weird, you can see the storms off to the east, and they hit us before hand and then I figured more rain was coming, so I looked on the tv and he was talking about it, so I went to their site and got a screenshot of it. I even went to The Weather Channel and their's showed it as well, so did satelite images. We still got hit by the second set of storms but it was weird that it made a circle for about 20 minutes.
You might try viewing the doppler from another large city if their sweep reaches your area. We get horrendous ground clutter here in humid-as-hell Corpus Christi, TX.
You guys make it seem like I'm out in the country..
Just to let you know, I live in Bixby, which borders Tulsa. For those who do not know, Tulsa has a larger population, and is bigger size wise than St Louis, MO.
Never heard of that St Louis place, but isn't Bixby known as the Garden Spot of Oklahoma? (Just joking - about St Louis) Sounds like a really peaceful town, with low crime and affordable housing, but I'll bet you've got your share of crop circles there... I won't tell the Chamber of Commerce.
