59 f-100/250 4x4 speedometer cable??

my cable broke, and I called up Sac Vin Ford, looking for speedo. They said it mounts in back of the transmission and goes up to the gauge. However, in my 4x4 it hooks in the back of the transfer case, and is 25 inches longer than the approx 75 inches that thier factory replacement is. They don't list one for the 4x4......anyone know where to get a replacement cable at a reasonable price. otherwise I need to get one custom made. also I pulled mine out of the housing, each end isent, which side has the collar on the cable, both ends screw in, but are different sized threads.

thanks Marc

Marc,

Check with NAPA. They have a universal speedometer cable that you cut to length. They also have a universal speedometer housing if you need one. I'm not sure what the length is, but it's worth checking out. I have used their universal cable in several older vehicles and it may work for your 4x4.

Your cable should be 109.12 inches in length. I found some NOS Ford ones for you.

Your number was superceded to the number I listed. I got it from the final issue of the 57-63 Ford truck microfiche. This is the last number before it went obsolete. Either number will work.

thanks, Barry

Thanks, again, I'm still waiting to hear back from one company to see if it is 105-110 inches in length.
