Following Marc's repeatable leadership from 2015- how's the one year old doing?

I'm really trying to get my cars going so no trips.
And of course we just had a new grandson so Nancy is more than happy to hang around.

Cool parody. Didn't even know John Denver did that. Speaking of John Denver, anyone else think he and Steve Irwin looked alike?

That 16 Tons song has an interesting entry in Wikipedia, if'n anyone is interested.

I wondered if 16 tons was known as an actual quota in coal mining history. Didn't find anything to confirm that. That's a lotta shoveling, but probably realistic for a strong man who is desperate for work.

Say 50# shovel
1 shovel/minute
11 hr days

That's 33,000 lbs, or 16.5 tons.

So, I have my rebuilt Motorcraft carb on craigslist. A guy calls up and wants it, ok fine, come get it right? The guy says he can scrape the money together, but is having tough times. He will have to borrow a car to come get it or ask for a ride and either way will need money for gas.

His story: He bought a car that sat for 6-7 years. He has replaced head gaskets, intake gasket, then found that he had broke a tab off the carb.

Back to the story: He finally comes out today and asks if I could drive down and help him put the carb on and tune it.

Classic CL experience. Doesn't hurt to ask, eh?

Besides, the back pain Bill, I bet those workers slept well.

Sparklers is the only thing I bought this year. See no reason to spend money on anything else that will be gone in less than 15 minutes. LOL

My fire season has been uneventful. We just had the worst fire in Kern County history, and I didnt have a camera to photograph it. Why? Because it was stolen. My truck was broken into twice, in one week.

I've started a GoFundMe at the demand of my coworkers. Should anyone feel interested, the link is below.

Also, I have been selling books of my fire photos to the local departments to help raise funds to get new camera gear. I lost $5000 in equipment...

Wow, twice now you have had your camera equipment stolen. That has got to be hard to take.

I have had no luck with my gofundme campaign, so I am going to take it down. had my car impounded two weeks ago, and needed help getting it out. Ended up having to borrow money from everyone, and even my church helped. No help from gofundme though.

Sad commentary on living in SoCal.

On the bright side, I received some stickers and key chains to share at our next G2G!
