Is it ok on a 78 f250 to put a line lock in the line between the Master Cylinder and the proportioning valve? Will it cause the proportioning valve to malfunction?
If what you mean by line lock is something to block the flow of brake fluid, then you can't do that to a steel line. If you mean something else, can you explain?
andy a line lock is an electrical or mechinal valve in the brake system that allows you to apply pressure to the brakes and then lock that portion of the system and hold it to allow you to either ensure the vehicle does not role while running pto implements or the more common lock the front brake for burnouts in drag cars.
I want it as my off road rig is a stick and in precarious situations it is nice to be able to lock the brake with a t-handle thumb switch and work both the clutch and gas.
Yeah, I was thinking of something different. A line lock to me is a tool that you use when you're replacing calipers or wheel cylinders to stop the flow of brake fluid so it doesn't leak everywhere.
I've looked at several diagrams for installation on line-loc and they all show it being installed after the proportioning valve. I don't know if there's a "need" for this but I'd imagine you'd be best not to hold pressure in the p-valve for long periods of time.
