FM Super 40 Dual-Out w/ Modded Y-Pipe - complete!
Sounds excellent!
Nice low rolling burble at idle. No 1500 - 2000 RPM 'drone' like other users have reported; it's actually pretty silent at those RPM's.
My highway cruising RPM's (2250 - 2500) sound excellent, a low rumble coming out the rear.
At around 3k, is sounds 'strange' for a split second, then the sound is just nasty (in a good way)! Sounds like someone pissed off the V-10, and it's letting you know it!
From what I can tell, I've haven't picked up any 'flutter' from the modded y-pipe.
Excellent results, and I'm happy!
Pics to follow as I just got home.
i can't do duals as i'm waiting on transferflow to start selling the 50 gal swb tank.
Y-Pipe from the Front 2
Y-Pipe from the Back
Y-Pipe from the Pass. Side
Y-Pipe from the Bottom - Gotta love those booger welds!
Y-Pipe from the Bottom 2
Exhaust from the Front - Nice shoes, jack!
Exhaust Old to New - The muffler placement ticked me off, I made sure to show the 'exhaust tech'
how I wanted the muffler mounted; vertically just like the stock piece and told him he might have to **** it at an angle to run the duals. But noooo, he mounts it horizontally, leaves a huge gaping hole above the muffler that screams "SOMETHING WAS HERE BEFORE" and chops off the hanging heatshield. Damn doofus! My tips became 75% off after he did that.Exhaust Dual Outs - The FM Super 40 came all black, but turned chocolate brown when it got hot. I wonder if it'll turn back to black after it cools? If you look at the rt. outlet, you can see a piece of rod peeking out. Excellent welding from the most recommended shop in town!

Duals towards Tailpipes - Yummy.
Driver Dual over Diff - This concerns me. The clearance between the pipe and the top of the diff is about 3 1/2". I drove up the side of a loading dock to use as a flex ramp to check for contact and there was none, but I still wasn't touching the bumpstops. I'll keep an eye on that for sure!
Snaking it's way to the End.
Hey! Lookit that Muffler! - Here you can see how far back they mounted the muffler.
Close, very close! - This is another concern. I don't remember how close the stock tailpipe came to the spare, but this one is daaamn close!
Close, very close! 2 - See how close it is? I thought that smudge on the tire was from the pipe making contact, but I tried to move the pipe around and it was rock solid. Maybe the tech redeemed himself after all, his welds may not be pretty, but he mounts stuff solid!
Pass. Side Exit
New Hanger on Driver Side - I bet that'll look crusty after a trip to the beach!
Driver Side Exit - New hanger welded to frame
3.5" 45* Slash Cut 304 Stainless Tip - I think I might put on the fenderwell covers to clean up the look. Damn my truck is grungy and that tire is bald!
Putting the workmanship of the install aside, I'm very pleased with the sound. From my ButtDyno, it seems to pull a lot harder from 2500rpm up. If I'm at WOT, my belt will slip during each shift, and it never did that before. I'll try and get some sound clips, but I don't think the mic on my laptop will be the best recording agent.
Comments? Questions? Critiques? Please fire away because maybe you see something wrong that I'm missing!

Can you get the tranny pan off if necessary? Might just be the camera angle, but it looks like that cross-over pipe is in the way.
Regardless of how solid the pipes feel by hand, they will flex & move with the truck. Even if there is no physical contact with the pipe, you need to get a heat shield for the spare or it will be ruined by the exhaust heat.

I do agree with NoMo in that it doesn't matter what we think but if my hard earned money went to fund a job that ended up with such a lack of craftsmanship, I'd be getting it back.
Oh...and maybe those guys shoulda called the new "Y" pipe a "T" pipe instead.
But hey...if it holds up, doesn't hurt performance and sounds the way you like it then...well...just drive it!

I'll tell ya what though...that's a damn good post you made!!

I agree with the other comments on the poor welding job.

use a resonator out of the Cummins, and a 4" dump pipe, i got sound deep enough to set alarms off in parking garages.
All to all i spent about 30 dollars on my exhaust modds, I am not bragging but the guys in town LOVE the way my truck sounds.
Some guy stopped me at the gas station the other day and asked me who installed the system, he'd heard my truck around town and wanted to know. "i have changed my system three times and i hate it everytime, I'd like to get waht you have" should have seen his face after I told him.
For the guys that spent the money, more power to you, i only got the result because i was trying to be cheap anyway.
I do want to keep the stock 3v system intact though. So after the Y it runs about 3 feet back in the collector pipe and then mates to the stock muffler system. How do I mate that part to the new muffler without ruining the stock collector pipe? Is there some slip connector that I can use so no welding is required?
at idle it has a nice mellow tone, but when i get on it! o-boy do it say horse power.
i should have used a 50 big block is my only back thought as to sound. but then mine is a 05 3 valve motor.they sound different any way due to the variable intake .
