Bad grounding

Just swapped a cab form a 79 f150 to a 79 f250. Fits fine, but a have major ground problems. First of all,i had dash lights and dome lights. Nothing else-called a wrench i know and he said fords had 3 grounds. The onle ones i have are engine 2 forewall and frame directly 2 battery. He also suggested i use jumper cables to ground(test)other places to see if it worked. well i grounded engine to red. support ,lights came on. when i took them off-nada. Checked a few things w/test light and this was wierd, from engine to rad support-it lit up! Could this be that i don't have my fenders and inner fender wells attached? i guess this make sense since the test kight worked in this strange way. ANY HELP ????

not attatched meaning not on at all??? If so then that is your problem. If not then get one of those braided ground straps from a parts store and run it from a bellhousing bolt to the frame. all of your other gounding points sound sufficiant enough.

Or you can just run a wire form the negative side of the battery to the closest bolt on the core sup.

The test light being lit from the engine to the rad support is an indication that the rad support is not grounded. When you did this test, something was turned on (like the light switch or something). The voltage was sitting there at the lights with no place to go(no ground). You completed the circuit with the test light so the voltage ran through whatever you had on, and then ran through the test light, to the good ground on the engine block, where it then ran back to the negative of the battery.
